Description

Welcome to our course on “Artificial intelligence Revolutionizing Neuroimaging”. Neuroimaging involves studying the structure and function of the nervous system with the aid of imaging technology in a non-invasive manner. It investigates a cascade of functions such as cognition, information processing, and brain changes in the pathological state. It has emerged as a powerful tool for medical research and diagnosis. With the rising prevalence of neurological disorders, neuroimaging technology has evolved with data analysis and artificial intelligence advances in this field. Artificial intelligence is influencing medical imaging in multiples dimensions such as through quantitative volumetric neuroimaging, which offers improvement in efficiency, accuracy, clinical relevance, reduced subjectivity, and even a modest return on investment and the potential to increase referrals. While volumetric post-processing is useful in CT and PET, it is especially suited to the high spatial and contrast resolution of MRI, particularly in neuroradiological applications. Indeed, volumetric analysis is being applied to MRI of patients being evaluated for such indications as dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, brain development and psychiatric disorders. Volumetric analysis is particularly useful in diagnosis and tracking disease progression over a period.
